Splashes of Color

Fall is here. I just love fall! I can finally put on my cozy sweatshirts and jeans. There's just something about the air - it's so crisp and I just love the smell of the leaves. Dawn, I wish you could be here now! It'd be so fun to "do school" together sometimes, wouldn't it?

Fireproof

It's our anniversary on the 30th, so we decided to include our kids and take them to the long-awaited "Fireproof" by the makers of "Facing the Giants" and "Flywheel". We don't usually spend so much money on just one movie - usually wait until it's on DVD, but this one was an exception. Fireproof lived up to every expectation I had, and then some! Kirk Cameron's perrformance was outstanding. The movie has an excellent gospel message and an excellent message for struggling marriages. I would recommend it to anyone. However, if you are bringing your children, do NOT let them see the previews of other movies. There were some sexually explicit jokes (a lot). If you'd like to check out the movie's website it's http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/. If you'd like to watch a preview you can go to the right on my blog and click on the youtube fireproof clip.

Grandma's Funeral

Last Saturday (September 20th) was Ed's Grandma's funeral. Grandma B was such a nice lady. She was always delighted to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always had a big hug for everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her... Below are some pictures to remember the day.

Huggin' Cousins...

Many more pictures to follow. I don't have time at the moment - imagine that! It was Ed's Grandmother's funeral last Saturday. She just had turned 93, so she got to live a long happy life. All of Ed's maternal family got together for the funeral, so I have a ton of pictures to show when I have a little more time to put them on the blog...Below is Maddy (age 11) hugging her cousin, Cami (age 5).

Patch the Pirate

Ahoy Mates!
Tonight was our Patch the Pirate program at our church. Our very good friends, Mark and Pam, did an excellent job all summer and the program was perfect. It was on Galations 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Lots of good songs and a great message! Thanks Mark and Pam! Oh - Yory sang a solo and I started to cry. I almost never cry in front of people but I just couldn't get a hold of myself. It was two years ago almost to the day that I brought her home from Ethiopia. We had just gotten here from Africa the night before the Patch Program. She fell asleep in the pew! And now, here we are two years later and she's singing a song about how to get saved. She sang "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man (girl/boy) hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in..." Rev. 3:20a. It was precious... All of the kids did a great job!

Go Cardinals!

My nephew, Brandon, is a senior at Luck High School. Our whole family went to his first home game last Friday night. Unfortunately they didn't win, but Brandon got a touch down. He's really very good! Bran - we're going to have to call you "Scuttle Boy" like we used to call your Dad! We'll be going to more of your games... Oh yeah - he's #2.
