Prophecies of the Messiah

The Old Testament is filled with prophecies regarding the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. I don't think many people think or know about these prophecies, but if they DID know it might make a difference in what they believed! If you would like to read an excellent article on the most important birth in history please go to http://www.brittgillette.com/WordPress/?p=67. Here are just a few verses from the OLD Testament describing His birth. Remember, these were written hundreds of years before He was born!

1. The place of His birth - Micah 5:2 "But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old from everlasting." There were actually two Beth-lehems, thus God was even more clear in stating that it was a SPECIFIC Beth-lehem where He would be born - Beth-lehem Ephratah.

2. His virgin birth - Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the LORD himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Immanuel means "God with us".

3. The presentation of gifts to Him - Psalm 72:10-11 "The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him."

4. The massacre of children after His birth - Jeremiah 31:15 "Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not." Herod the Butcher King massacred all boy babies aged two and under to try to kill this King who threatened his throne.

5. His escape into Egypt - Hosea 11:1 "When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt." Jesus escaped the Butcher King because Joseph was warned by an angel to flee Beth-lehem. Joseph was told to take Jesus and Mary to Egypt.

6. His residence in Nazareth - Matthew 2:23 "And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene."

7. His childhood poverty - Isaiah 53:2 "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comliness and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."

There is a book called Science Speaks written by Peter Stoner which brilliantly tells of the odds of any prophecies about anyone coming true. If you would like to see an article on this go to http://www.lamblion.com/articles/articles_bible6.php. Basically, Mr. Stoner says that the chance of even 8 prophecies being fulfilled in one person is 1 out of 100,000,000,000,000,000. That's one in one hundred quadrillion!!! There were over three HUNDRED prophecies fulfilled regarding the birth, life and death of Jesus Christ.

Do you need more proof that Jesus is Who He says He is? Do a search - there are many well researched articles on this topic.

May you all have a blessed Christmas.

Where have I been?

Well. I am probably the worst blogger in the web world. Some of you may know that I had major back surgery nine weeks ago. I am healing beautifully, however it's still painful to sit long at the computer, and that is why I haven't been able to update the blog! I'll be doing more in a couple of days. Just wanted to check in!
