My Song in the Night - The Concordia Choir

Jesus is my Song in the Night. The lyrics are beautiful. Please take the time to read them and listen to this most awesome choir. The soloist is amazing.

Lyrics to MY SONG IN THE NIGHT

O Jesus my Savior, my song in the night,

Come to us with Thy tender love,

my soul's delight.

Unto Thee, O Lord, in affliction I call,

My comfort by day, and my song in the night.

O why should I wander, an alien from Thee,

Or cry in the desert Thy face to see?

My comfort and joy, my soul's delight,

O Jesus my Savior, my song in the night.

My song in the night, my song in the night,

in the night, in the night, in the night.

O Jesus my Savior, my song in the night.

Come to us with Thy tender love,

my soul's delight.

My Comfort and joy, my soul's delight,

O Jesus my Savior, my song in the night.

My song my song in the night,

in the night, my song

My comfort and joy, my soul's delight.

O Jesus my Savior, my song in the night,

in the night. My song in the night.

Welcome Gretel and Inga!

Well. Our dreams are coming true! We now have two darling calves. Ed and the kids surprised me and worked on a nice stall for the "girls" yesterday while I was at a homeschool retreat. Today Ed, Yory, Lily and Paulina went and got Gretel and Inga while I was cleaning. I had no idea! Aren't they cute?

The Yardstick

I read the following in my devotions this morning. It sums up watering down God's Word perfectly.

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. - Ephesians 4:13

Recently the local drug store gave us a yardstick. It was the square kind - thick and not easily broken. It was exactly thirty-six inches long. This yard stick represents a precise standard of measurement. It is consistent every time.

Suppose we would decide that the yardstick is too cumbersome to carry, so we would cut a piece of elastic exactly thirty-six inches long. We could roll it up and put it in our pocket. Elastic would also be more adaptable to the various sizes and shapes of objects to be measured. How foolish!

Truth, like the yardstick, can be inconvenient. Human nature looks for ways to dismiss truth that is not convenient, rather than to conform to God's standard. The carnal nature would like to change God's truth and stretch it so it just fits around the perimeter of my opinion. But opinions and situations change, and left to our own designs we would soon stretch the truth until it snaps.

Unbelief does not take God at His Word. A double minded man would hold up the yardstick proudly on Sunday, but allow himself the flexibility of elastic throughout the week. A church that applies truth in a careless manner will have nothing to extend to the seeker but a limp thread.

God does not compromise His standard, but rather He helps us to attain to the "measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ." He does not leave us to struggle on in the mire of defeat, but extends to us a standard of truth that sets us free to stand on solid ground. We can choose to take either God's way or our own way, but in the end God will judge us according to the Truth.

Prophecies of the Messiah

The Old Testament is filled with prophecies regarding the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. I don't think many people think or know about these prophecies, but if they DID know it might make a difference in what they believed! If you would like to read an excellent article on the most important birth in history please go to http://www.brittgillette.com/WordPress/?p=67. Here are just a few verses from the OLD Testament describing His birth. Remember, these were written hundreds of years before He was born!

1. The place of His birth - Micah 5:2 "But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old from everlasting." There were actually two Beth-lehems, thus God was even more clear in stating that it was a SPECIFIC Beth-lehem where He would be born - Beth-lehem Ephratah.

2. His virgin birth - Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the LORD himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Immanuel means "God with us".

3. The presentation of gifts to Him - Psalm 72:10-11 "The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him."

4. The massacre of children after His birth - Jeremiah 31:15 "Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not." Herod the Butcher King massacred all boy babies aged two and under to try to kill this King who threatened his throne.

5. His escape into Egypt - Hosea 11:1 "When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt." Jesus escaped the Butcher King because Joseph was warned by an angel to flee Beth-lehem. Joseph was told to take Jesus and Mary to Egypt.

6. His residence in Nazareth - Matthew 2:23 "And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene."

7. His childhood poverty - Isaiah 53:2 "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comliness and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."

There is a book called Science Speaks written by Peter Stoner which brilliantly tells of the odds of any prophecies about anyone coming true. If you would like to see an article on this go to http://www.lamblion.com/articles/articles_bible6.php. Basically, Mr. Stoner says that the chance of even 8 prophecies being fulfilled in one person is 1 out of 100,000,000,000,000,000. That's one in one hundred quadrillion!!! There were over three HUNDRED prophecies fulfilled regarding the birth, life and death of Jesus Christ.

Do you need more proof that Jesus is Who He says He is? Do a search - there are many well researched articles on this topic.

May you all have a blessed Christmas.

Where have I been?

Well. I am probably the worst blogger in the web world. Some of you may know that I had major back surgery nine weeks ago. I am healing beautifully, however it's still painful to sit long at the computer, and that is why I haven't been able to update the blog! I'll be doing more in a couple of days. Just wanted to check in!

Bountiful, bountiful, bountiful land

It's been WAY TOO LONG since I last posted. I've been so busy with taking care of the garden and now with canning and freezing. It's almost done! As much as I love this I'm looking forward to just resting and EATING the canned/frozen products. Below are some pictures of the girls helping me.
Yory with some cucumbers. We only got about 25 quarts of pickles before our cucumber vines died one night. Very frustrating. Paulina with some dill.
Lily in pink peeling apples.

Maddy and the twins making salsa.

This is a quesadilla that Lily or Paulina made with the freshly made salsa.
SALSA!!!
Corn, cherry tomatoes, zucchini
Wild plums! We made plum jelly with these and plum sauce for ice cream.
We have our apple "source"!

CAMP SHILOH

The kids left for camp today. Mixed emotions for mom! I will be very busy this week cleaning, organizing, getting homeschool things ready and visiting my husband! We're also planning a day together in the cities! Below are pics of the kids right before leaving for Camp Shiloh in Madison Lake, MN.

Well, it's Lily's and Paulina's FIRST year of camp. They're entering fourth grade this fall, so they now can go to Camp Shiloh. It was very hard letting them go!!! They were so excited though. I hope they have a lot of fun and learn a lot of wonderful things about God.
