MAKIN' THE SAUCE

Some of the kids and I made some applesauce the other night. It takes a "lotta" apples to make just 2 quarts of applesauce! We've also been dehydrating them with cinnamon sugar on them. They are really good that way...

My Mom and Dad made "hobo-dinners" for my twins once this summer and they LOVED it! For those of you who may not know what a hobo dinner is I'll explain...

Take a potato, a carrot or two, some sliced onions, a dab of butter and some salt and pepper. Wrap it all in some aluminum foil, plop it on a fire outside and let it cook for about a half hour or so. Voila! Delicious.

It's great going out to our new little fire pit and reading to the kids. I have a feeling it's going to become a new habit every fall...

Hobo dinner anyone?

Today we froze a few quarts of corn and made some zucchini bread. Actually Yory and Maddy made the bread! Tomorrow we're going to make some pickles and freeze more corn...
